Bath Bombs

One of my favorite self-care activities is taking an evening to myself where I run a hot bath with a Lush bath bomb, put on some Netflix, and of course… drink wine. Lush bath bombs are very aromatic and create a relaxing space, but I’ve learned that to fully enjoy a glass of wine, you need your nose for smelling and tasting! Needless to say, my spearmint scented bath bomb did not pair well with the Moscato d’Asti I was drinking and it was a chaotic aromatic experience.

I went to Lush the other day and decided to smell a ton of bath bombs and pair them with wines with similar or complimentary scents. Of course, I warned the sales associate of my antics before I pulled out my phone and started snapping pictures. Luckily for me, she was super excited about my blog post idea. Here’s what I came up with.

Bath bombs at Lush

1. Bom Perignon + Sparkling Wine

This one was an obvious pairing for me. This bath bomb is slightly citrusy, but it smells a lot like Champagne! It also fizzes and bubbles up when dropped into the bath, which is why I thought this bath bomb would go perfectly with sparkling wine. Whichever sparkling wine you feel like drinking, pop that sucker open and drop the Bom Perignon in the bath. What did Migos say about being bad and boujee?

2. Goldrush + Chenin Blanc

Goldrush is a bath bomb that smells very citrusy, but there is also a surprise herbal kick to it. I thought this bath bomb’s aromatics would pair nicely with Chenin Blanc because Chenin Blanc is an acidic wine with citrus and herbal notes. My favorite Chenin Blancs tend to be from South Africa because it’s such an underrated country for wine region, but if you want to be on theme, a California Chenin Blanc will also do the trick. After all, California is the Golden State.

3. The Comforter + Cabernet Sauvignon

The Comforter bath bomb smells exactly like blackcurrant. Blackcurrant is also a common flavor descriptor in a lot of Cabernet Sauvignons which makes it the perfect pairing with this particular bath bomb. Bath bombs are all about treating yourself, so you can go ahead and open that $200 bottle of Napa Cab or you can veer towards the adventurous side and try a Cab from a region you’ve never tasted before.

4. Sushi + Moscato/Muscat

The Sushi bath bomb is known for its bright orange and mandarin scents. This relaxing bath bomb would pair nicely with Moscato/Muscat which can have orange, apricot, and honeysuckle aromas. I thought that the citrus in the bath bomb would bring out more of the orange/tangerine in the wine. Muscat can be super aromatic at times, so it can compete with the bath bomb, but not overpower if you catch my drift.

5. Strawberries and Cream + Lambrusco

Strawberries and Cream is a bath bomb that smells exactly like strawberries. Not only that, but this bath bomb fizzes making it an awesome pairing with Lambrusco. Lambrusco is a red sparkling wine with aromas of juicy strawberries. Once again, I’m obsessed with the fact that Lambrusco is such a versatile wine. It pairs with food, experiences, and bath bombs?! Amazing.

When you’re enjoying a relaxing night in, these pairings are sure to activate your senses in the most calming way.
