Trying Chardonnay Iced Tea

So I was browsing World Market as I usually do on the weekends when I have nothing else to do and I came across one of the best sights of my life— Chardonnay iced tea! What drew me to it was the fact that it’s two of my favorite things in one— wine and iced tea. If I’m not enjoying a glass of wine, nine times out of ten I’ll be drinking iced tea.

This tea is created by The Republic of Tea and the grape skins are produced in Sonoma County by Whole Vine Products. The wine teas are part of their “Sonoma Teas” line and include options such as Rosé iced tea and Cabernet iced tea. At World Market, I saw a Pinot Noir iced tea and I impulsively bought that one as well.

How I made the tea

To make this tea, I boiled two cups of water on the stove. In a glass pitcher, I put two tablespoons of sugar and one of the tea pouches, then poured the boiling water on top. The instructions say to sweeten at the end if desired, but I find that sugar dissolves easier when the water is hot. I let the tea steep for 10 minutes before stirring in two cups of ice and then serving over ice.

Did I like the tea?

I love this tea! It combined all of my favorite things into one beverage and it tasted delicious. It is a tropical tea and tropical teas are the best in my opinion. The tea has pineapple and peach flavors as well as the flavor that the grape skins give off. I think it’s really refreshing and perfect for Summer.

Is it worth the money?

Let’s see… I spent $7 on the tin of tea and it steeps six quarts which is about 24 cups of tea. It’s absolutely worth it since I’ll spend $4 on Starbucks about two to three times per week and it really adds up after a short amount of time. I would totally buy the Chardonnay iced tea again, but I have the Pinot Noir iced tea waiting for when I finish the first one I bought.
